Tenable Expands Exposure Management Across AI and Dev Tools

⏱️ 4 min read

Tenable has expanded the AI security capabilities of its Tenable One Exposure Management Platform, adding support for Google Gemini alongside existing coverage for Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot.

The update also expands Tenable One’s ability to identify AI use across Model Context Protocol (MCP) deployments, AI-focused development tools and AI-enabled browser extensions. The company says this is intended to help security teams identify both approved and unauthorized, or “shadow,” AI use within their environments.

Tenable said it identified 457 million AI-related security issues across more than 7,000 organizations, averaging around 62,000 exposures per organization over a 30-day period.

    Expanded AI Exposure Management Capabilities

The latest capabilities include monitoring interactions with Google Gemini, enforcing policies and detecting potentially malicious or inappropriate activity. Tenable has also added support for AI-native development tools including Cursor, Windsurf and Trae.

The platform’s remediation capabilities have also been expanded, allowing organizations to create tickets in Jira and ServiceNow and send automated notifications through email, Slack or Microsoft Teams when policy violations are detected.

Commenting on the update, Eric Doerr, Chief Product Officer at Tenable, said: “The massive volume of AI exposures confirms the operational reality that authorized and unauthorized AI is deployed faster than security teams can govern it. There’s no denying that AI attack surfaces are making defenders’ jobs even harder, and legacy or siloed cybersecurity tools simply don’t cut it. With today’s expansion to include Google Gemini, MCP and AI-native IDE deployments, Tenable is the only exposure management platform delivering unified AI visibility and governance across all major LLMs, software, and tools.”

Tenable One combines AI discovery and exposure management capabilities with AI-powered tools designed to automate security tasks and remediation.
