  • Lenovo is introducing a full gaming ecosystem of devices, software, and services, empowering gamers with a new call-to-arms to ‘Reach Your Impossible’ and succeed.

Lenovo’s new gaming ecosystem debuted at CES® 2024, with Microsoft Windows 11-based PCs, peripherals, software, and services that deliver on power, thermals, graphics, AI-powered advantages, and the freedom to build the ultimate system to game. The new PC portfolio includes the following new 9th generation Lenovo Legion 16-inch gaming laptops and towers:

  • The Lenovo Legion 7i (16”, 9), Lenovo Legion 5i (16”, 9), and Lenovo Legion Slim 5 (16”, 9) are for gamers who need a laptop that can handle their favorite games as well as their STEM apps.
  • The Lenovo Legion 9i (16”, 9) is for those who will settle for nothing less than the best in their gaming and content creation pursuits.
  • The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (16”, 9) and Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (16”, 9) are for gamers who need the ultimate in FPS, style, and screen.
  • Legion Tower 7i and Legion Tower 5i are for those who need the extra horsepower of a top-tier gaming tower PC.

At the core of this new gaming lineup is the family of Lenovo’s proprietary hardware AI chips—called LA AI chips–and the advantages they bring to both Lenovo Legion and Lenovo LOQ gaming laptops. First introduced last CES, this year’s LA AI chips are mightier than ever, enabling Lenovo Legion and Lenovo LOQ laptops to achieve even higher FPS, increased power efficiency, and more. And with a selection of gaming laptops, towers, monitors, accessories and even the handheld Lenovo Legion Go announced last IFA, the new Lenovo gaming ecosystem lets gamers choose the exact setup they need to achieve gaming greatness and reach their ‘impossible’.

Lenovo Gaming: Reach Your Impossible

‘Reach Your Impossible’ can mean something different to each gamer. Whether it’s topping the leaderboards in professional esports, successfully leading an endgame raid with teammates the world over, or anything in between, Lenovo Legion has the tools that give gamers the edge they need to succeed, both on the digital battlefield and in work or study.

“As the world enters the breach of AI-enabled technology, Lenovo is proud to be at the pinnacle of this charge. With Lenovo Legion’s newest lineup of hardware AI chip-powered laptops, gamers are empowered to reach impossible new heights thanks to fully user-customizable AI-assisted performance increases,” said Jun Ouyang, Lenovo’s Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Business Segment, Intelligent Devices Group. “In addition to advances in gaming AI, Lenovo Legion’s new Coldfront: Hyper thermal technology—created in collaboration with our friends at Intel—is a disruptive breakthrough that redefines thermal design, increasing heat transfer efficiency while decreasing noise and skin temperatures, forging a path ahead in the future of portable PC gaming power.”

A Gaming Laptop that Redefines Unique: The Lenovo Legion 9i (16”, 9)

The new Lenovo Legion 9i (16”, 9) features the upgraded Lenovo LA3-P AI chip, which delivers Scenario Detection that dynamically adjusts power to the CPU and GPU to increase performance based on what the user is doing at any given moment. This is coupled with Smart FPS, which tracks power usage between hardware components and FPS output while gaming. It scans on-screen FPS data, then takes this data and runs it through an algorithm that optimizes CPU and GPU power that increases FPS in games. The Lenovo LA3-P AI chip also enables Lighting Audio Sync. There is also Legion Aurora Sync, as well as Smart Control that allows gamers to quickly switch between preset power profiles including a user-settable Custom mode. Fan speed controls, thermal mode settings, and other AI capabilities are all controlled through Lenovo Vantage.

Pick One Device To Do It All—The Lenovo Legion Series, Lenovo Legion Slim 5, and Lenovo Legion Tower 5i

Today’s gamers lead diverse, busy lives and need a device that can handle everything they throw at it, be it the processor-intensive apps prevalent in STEM studies or the hungriest of AAA games. The Lenovo Legion series, made up of the Lenovo Legion 7i (16”, 9), Lenovo Legion 5i (16”, 9), and Lenovo Legion Slim 5 (16”, 9), offer gamers who need a powerful laptop in a portable package the ultimate do-it-all solution.

Lenovo’s LA AI chips are both present in Lenovo Legion series laptops. The Lenovo Legion 7i’s LA AI chip supports Scenario Detection, Smart FPS increases, and Smart Control, all accessible through Lenovo Vantage software so gamers can customize their laptop even further in the pursuit of optimum performance no matter the use case. The Lenovo Legion 5i supports Smart Control for on-the-fly power profile switching.

New for this year is the Lenovo Legion “Coldfront: Hyper” thermal solution, available on the Lenovo Legion 7i and Lenovo Legion 5i. This innovative thermal solution redirects hot air from laptop chips through a hyperbaric chamber in the laptop’s center. The bottom D-cover prevents the mixing of hot exhaust air with cold incoming air, optimizing heat exchange. This design aims to keep laptop hardware cooler and maintain higher framerates.

Lenovo Legion series laptops also feature PureSight displays, which are per-unit color calibrated. The Lenovo Legion 7i (16”, 9) is available with either a 16-inch 3.2K 16:10 IPS display with 165Hz refresh, 100% DCI-P3 support, and 450 nits brightness for extra fidelity whether gaming, designing, or creating content; or a 16-inch WQXGA 16:10 display with 240Hz refresh and 100% sRGB for users who require faster display refresh rates. eSports Display software enhances gaming performance by enabling dynamic response time, reducing image blur, and offering features like selectable-position FPS display and an aim assist reticle for improved precision in first-person shooter games.

When gaming at home or in the dorm, pair with a Lenovo Legion Y27h-30 Gaming Monitor and the brand new Legion M410 Wireless RGB Gaming Mouse and Lenovo Legion K510 Pro Mini Keyboard for extra control over one’s favorite games or least favorite homework. The Gaming Mouse features both a 2.4Ghz wireless connection and wired connection with up to 16000dpi, adjustable 2-zone RGB lighting effects, and a rechargeable battery. As a compact gaming keyboard, the Lenovo Legion K510 Mini Pro Keyboard packs a lot of sought-after gaming features including mechanical key switches, arrow and function keys, anti-ghosting, and 16.8 million color per-key RGB support.

For gamers who are looking for a desktop solution to their gaming, educational, and professional pursuits, the Lenovo Legion Tower 5i can be configured with up to 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900F processors, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPUs, up to 32GB of 5600MHz DDR5 RAM, up to an 850W 90% PSU, and up to 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD storage. At 26L, the Lenovo Legion Tower 5i distills a lot of power into a chassis that dominates the game, not the desk.

Special Tools for Specialized Gamers: The Lenovo Legion Pro Series and Lenovo Legion Tower 7i

For competitive gamers, the Lenovo Legion Pro series answers the call, delivering this gaming portfolio’s highest performance and cutting-edge thermals to help with the win. This year’s Lenovo Legion Pro series laptops feature up to all new Intel Core 14th Gen i9-14900HX processors, up to 32GB 5600MHz DDR5 memory, up to 16” PureSight WQXGA 16:10 IPS display panels supporting up to 240Hz refresh rates with 500 nits brightness, and up to 2TB PCIe SSD storage. The upgraded PureSight displays feature 100% DCI-P3 coverage.

All Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (16”, 9) laptops this year feature Coldfront: Vapor chamber thermals regardless of the configuration, allowing the up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU to max out at a total of 250W TDP in Extreme Mode. The Coldfront thermals in Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (16”, 9) laptops let the up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs breathe with a max output of 215W TDP in Extreme Mode. Performance is pushed even further thanks to the combination of Lenovo AI chips on Lenovo Legion Pro 7i laptops and the LA1 chip on Legion Pro 5i laptops. It powers Lenovo AI Engine+, which uses software machine learning, deployed through Lenovo Vantage, to help monitor in-game FPS and dynamically adjust power routing, fan curves, and many other settings to maintain the highest performance output no matter the scenario.

For gamers who need dedicated top-tier performance fully focused on the win, the Lenovo Legion Tower 7i is the monument to gaming greatness. With up to Intel Core i9 14900K processors, up to the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX Desktop GPUs, up to 64GB 5600MHz DDR5 RAM, up to 6TB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage, and up to a 1200W 90% PSU, this 34L behemoth—like its Pro series cousin—can push every pixel on a Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30 display to the max with lightning-fast refresh rates built for victory in high fidelity. Coupled with the Lenovo Legion K300 Mechanical Keyboard and Lenovo Legion M600e Wireless Gaming Mouse, the Lenovo Legion Pro series and Lenovo Legion Tower 7i deliver the arsenal of tools to clinch the win.

Be ‘You’: The AvatarMaster app

Taking the streaming and collaboration experience to a new level, select Lenovo Legion systems, including the Legion 7i (16”, 9) and Legion 5i (16”, 9) are now equipped with AvatarMaster. A new app powered by AI, AvatarMaster transforms users’ profiles into a 3D digital avatar, with complete customization capabilities from appearance and facial features to clothing and accessories. After creating and customizing their avatars, users can animate and stream a digital version of themselves during video conferences, gaming sessions, and across multiple platforms.

Harnessing the power of AI, AvatarMaster tracks both movements and audio, mimicking in real time a raised eyebrow, a nod, and even a blink so that the avatar is as expressive as the user. Even when the camera is off, users can take advantage of the AI-powered audio tracking mode to show facial expressions in the avatar only based on vocal and audio cues, allowing them to be present while remaining private.

Step Through the Gateway to Gaming: Lenovo LOQ

The world’s best gamers all started their journey to the top by taking that first step into the gaming world – and with Lenovo LOQ gaming laptops and towers, that first step is made easy. This year’s Lenovo LOQ lineup includes a plethora of CPU and GPU options including Intel and AMD Ryzen CPUs as well as both NVIDIA 20, 30, and 40 Series Laptop GPUs, and even a fully Intel-based option with Intel Arc™ A530M graphics. The new hyperchamber thermal technology also found on Intel-based Lenovo LOQ laptops keeps processors cooler, drawing out up to an additional 15W of power in Extreme Mode while keeping skin temperatures up to 2°C cooler, and lowering fan noise by up to 2dB compared to its last generation.

Even more power is unlocked by the Lenovo LA1 AI chip present on all Lenovo LOQ laptops by powering Lenovo AI Engine+ through Lenovo Vantage to dynamically tune the laptop’s power, fan curves, and other settings on the fly to maximize performance according to the specific task at hand. All this technology allows the 15-inch Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 to put out a total of 160W max TDP in Extreme Mode, more than enough power to play most games, whether AAA titles or indie releases.

All Lenovo LOQ laptops bring games to life on two display options—either a 165Hz WQHD (1440p) 5ms response time panel, or a 144Hz FHD panel, both of which support 100% sRGB color coverage. Gamers can game in style with an optional 4-zone RGB keyboard with 1.5mm key travel on all Lenovo LOQ laptops as well.
