WSO2 adds a fully self-managed option to AI Workspace, allowing customers to self-host the AI platform for sovereign AI deployments.
WSO2 has announced that its AI control plane, AI Workspace, is now available as part of its fully self-managed API Platform offering. The release allows enterprises to self-host their AI governance infrastructure and operate a governance layer over models, agents and MCP servers within their own environment.
WSO2 AI Workspace Highlights
According to WSO2, self-managed AI Workspace allows organizations to govern employee access to external and sovereign LLMs and MCP servers. It also allows internal resources to be exposed as MCP servers under the same policy controls, while enabling organizations to cap costs, enforce quotas and implement chargeback across internal and external AI resources. Guardrails can also be applied across AI traffic through the company’s AI gateways.
AI Workspace remains the central point for enforcing these policies and provides AI developers with a workspace to access organization-approved models and services without requiring them to leave the customer’s infrastructure.
WSO2 says AI adoption in many enterprises has moved faster than AI governance, with teams connecting LLMs, agents and MCP servers faster than platform teams can secure them. The company says self-managed AI Workspace is designed to address this gap while supporting sovereign deployments.

AI Workspace launched in March 2026 with SaaS and hybrid deployments. The latest release adds a fully self-managed option, allowing customers to self-host the AI offering through the API Platform for sovereign AI deployments.
Self-managed AI Workspace is generally available today as part of WSO2 API Platform, and can be deployed using a quick-start installer, virtual machine, Docker or Kubernetes. Documentation is available here.
