OPPO’s A-series has quietly been maturing over the past few years, and the OPPO A6 Pro 5G seems to be the most refined example yet. Designed for users who demand long battery life, strong connectivity, and a premium look without paying flagship prices. After testing the 8 GB RAM / 256 GB storage version powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, it’s clear OPPO has found a sweet spot between design, durability, and dependable performance.
Display
The OPPO A6 Pro 5G sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. In daily use, the display is bright, punchy, and highly reliable even under harsh sunlight. Works well even in the Dubai Sun. Keep the Auto Brightness enabled and the outdoor visibility is genuinely excellent.
The display supports both Vivid and Natural colour modes, each of which can be fine-tuned with Warm, Default, or Cold temperature presets. To access these, the Eye Comfort mode needs to be turned off, a small adjustment and you can choose the most accurate colours.
The auto-refresh feature intelligently adjusts between 60 Hz / 90 Hz / 120 Hz depending on the tasks, conserving battery without compromising smoothness. Scrolling through social media feeds or videos feels buttery-fluid, while reading or static content switches to lower refresh rates automatically.

Overall, OPPO delivers one of the most balanced AMOLED screens in this segment. Vibrant, responsive, and genuinely outdoor-ready.
Design & Build
The OPPO A6 Pro 5G feels premium for its category. At just under 190 grams, it’s lightweight and well-balanced, with a comfortable grip and no bulk despite the large battery. The matte finish resists fingerprints well, and the buttons have a reassuring click that adds to the high-end feel.
The camera bump is minimal, so the phone doesn’t wobble on flat surfaces and rests well. The overall design is minimal yet premium, giving a solid flagship-like feel and OPPO’s attention to build quality really shows.
During testing, the phone survived an accidental drop onto wooden flooring without any damage, thanks in part to its military-grade shock resistance. With an IP69 rating, the OPPO A6 Pro can handle underwater photography and video recording for up to 25–30 minutes at a maximum depth of 1.5 to 2 metres. Anything deeper is not recommended, but this capability is rare at this price point and a genuine advantage for outdoor and travel users.
I’ve previously dropped another flagship phone with a similarly strong IP rating into water for just a few minutes, and it stopped working soon after. The battery even swelled and couldn’t be replaced due to unavailability, which is quite disappointing. That experience makes the OPPO A6 Pro’s reliable waterproofing and durable build even more impressive. Hoping the after sales service is on point for Oppo across regions.
Performance
Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset keeps things running smoothly. The OPPO A6 Pro’s performance is snappy; apps launch quite fast and switching between apps works like a charm with no visible lags.
The experience is enhanced by ColorOS 15, which feels polished and responsive. Animations are fluid, menus are well-organized, and there’s no sign of lag or stutter even after prolonged use. Thanks to OPPO’s AI LinkBoost 3.0, 5G connectivity stays strong and consistent. The phone has also cleared OPPO Lab’s 60-month fluency test, confirming its smooth, long-lasting performance.
Scrolling through videos on Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts feels effortless. The combination of 120 Hz refresh rate and optimized software genuinely lets you load and watch more videos, faster and smoother than many competitors in this range.
Gaming performance is steady. Just tested Asphalt 9 and it runs easily at medium-to-high settings. The SuperCool VC System keeps temperatures under control, even while gaming and charging simultaneously, the phone didn’t overheat.
Battery endurance is exceptional. The 6,500 mAh battery easily lasts over a day and a half of mixed use, and the 80 W SUPERVOOC fast charging takes it from 0 to 100 % in roughly 50 mins. A quick 10-minute charge delivers several hours of screen time, so there’s really no need for a power bank. It also supports reverse charging, letting you top up smaller devices like earbuds etc. via a wired connection.
Sound output is loud and clear, powered by 300% Ultra Volume Mode, which helps when watching videos outdoors or in noisy spaces.
In short, the OPPO A6 Pro 5G delivers smooth performance, steady thermals, and endurance that outclasses many phones in its bracket.
Camera
The A6 Pro 5G features a 50 MP main AI camera paired with a 16 MP front shooter. Image quality is consistently impressive for a mid-range device. Pictures are sharp, well-balanced, and vibrant without excessive processing.

AI integration is strong here. The camera app includes multiple shooting modes such as Pro, Photo, Portrait, Video, and Underwater, giving flexibility for different conditions.
The AI Editor enhances post-production with tools like: AI Recompose, AI Eraser, AI Retouch, AI Perfect Shot, Enhance Clarity (4K UHD), Unblur, Remove Reflections etc.
These tools make it remarkably easy to clean up, retouch, or recompose shots right on the device. No real need for third-party apps. Selfie performance is equally solid, producing natural skin tones and detail.
Low-light photos are decent, though not on par with flagship sensors. Night mode exists for pictures which come up decent enough but videography in the night may not give excellent results.
Battery
If there’s a clear hero in this phone, it’s the battery. The massive 6,500 mAh unit is built for longevity. OPPO claims durability of over five years and it shows. Even with extended gaming, video playback, and camera use, it comfortably lasts through a full day.
Charging is equally impressive. The 80 W SUPERVOOC technology refuels the device in about 50 minutes. Charging while gaming also produced no heating issues thanks to the cooling system.
Price & Availability

Verdict
The OPPO A6 Pro 5G checks nearly every box that matters for a modern mid-range phone. It’s beautifully built, exceptionally durable, and packs enough performance and battery power to handle even demanding users. From binge-scrolling and gaming to quick underwater photos, it feels ready for anything.
If you value a bright display, a premium feel, long battery life, and reliable everyday speed, then OPPO A6 Pro 5G is one of the most well-rounded 5G phones in its class.
Rating: 4.5 / 5 ⭐ – A premium experience without the premium price tag.
