WSO2 has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for API Management.

WSO2 said its modular API Platform is designed to help enterprises manage APIs, AI services and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers across cloud and self-managed environments. The platform includes API and AI management, governance and monetization capabilities.

โ€œGovernance has to meet AI traffic where it already runs and be adoptable one piece at a time, and enterprises shouldn’t have to replace their API platform to catch up,โ€ said Derric Gilling, Vice President and General Manager, API Platform, WSO2.

WSO2 highlighted four areas of its API Platform:

Agentic readiness: The platform supports APIs and services for agentic applications, including MCP, with controls over what agents can access.

AI governance: Its AI Gateway provides policy controls for LLM and MCP traffic, including authentication, authorization, rate limiting and guardrails.

Open and modular architecture: WSO2 said its platform components are available as independent products, allowing enterprises to deploy only the capabilities they need.

WSO2 API Platform is available as SaaS, hybrid, self-managed and air-gapped deployments, with support for data residency. WSO2 said on-premises deployments currently account for 67% of its installed base.

Monetization: The platform supports usage-based monetization across API, AI and MCP traffic, including traffic running through gateways from more than 14 vendors.
