Zain KSA and Huawei jointly completed the world’s first POC verification of the Private Cloud Game Solution in a PlayStation 5 (PS5) remote game scenario, conducted in a high-value user area of Riyadh. The Private Cloud Game Solution integrates with Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and the core network, enabling seamless connectivity by leveraging Zain KSA’s carrier network channels. This allows users to connect home PS5 consoles with remote control terminals, enabling gaming on mobile phones, tablets, or the PS5 portals from anywhere. The solution ensures a stable, high-quality gaming experience.

With the continued expansion of Saudi Arabia’s gaming industry and the increasing diversity of gaming content, demand for superior home gaming network quality is rising. To enable high-quality PS5 gaming anytime, anywhere, Zain KSA and Huawei have launched the Private Cloud Game Solution. This solution integrates with the core network and CPE to establish a 5GC direct connection channel, effectively functioning as a Gaming VPN. By keeping gaming streaming data within the carrier’s network and bypassing the public Internet, the solution ensures enhanced security and lower latency.

In collaboration with Huawei, Zain KSA conducted a comparative testing to assess the gaming experience with and without the Private Cloud Game Solution enabled.

Using mobile phones, tablets running the “PS Remote Play” app, and Sony PS5 Portal devices, players tested PS5 remote gaming performance. The results demonstrated significant improvements, including a higher connection success rate between control terminals and home PS5 consoles, an enhancement in game image quality from 480p to 1080p, and a reduction in latency from over 100 ms to below 20 ms. With the Private Cloud Game Solution, users can also experience PS5 gameplay outside their homes with performance comparable to a home LAN environment.
