Gemini for Google Workspace Now Supports Arabic

Google Workspace is expanding language support to additional languages including Arabic, to help even more organizations work better. This expansion makes Gemini for Workspace increasingly accessible to over 1 billion people whose first language is now supported.

For over 20 years, Google Workspace has been more than just a suite of tools; it’s been a place where teams create, build, and grow together. Google Workspace has empowered more than 10 million businesses of all sizes — from innovative startups to global enterprises — to transform how they work.

Starting this week, the following new languages will be supported by Gemini in the side panel of Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hebrew, Hungarian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.

Whether writing social media copy in a Doc, summarizing details from multiple files in Drive, or catching up on their Gmail inbox, users can do this now in any of these languages within the side panel. Image generation is supported in these languages as well.

Today’s news builds on Google’s announcement from last month that they’re including the best of Google AI in Workspace Business and Enterprise plans by simplifying plans and pricing to bring the added value of Google AI to all Workspace customers.

How Gemini can be used in the side panel of Workspace apps:

  • Gemini in Gmail: Staying on top of one’s email inbox is a common challenge. Gemini in Gmail makes it easy for users to find what they’re looking for and quickly respond. This is a big win for customer service representatives. For example, these reps can now ask Gemini to show unread emails from customers needing attention and to help get them started on email responses — all in their preferred language.
  • Gemini in Docs: Marketing teams regularly turn to Gemini in Docs to get help crafting concise and compelling copy for their campaigns. If a user is facing writer’s block and needs help coming up with creative social posts to promote their new product launch, they can now ask Gemini in Docs to draft social copy for them in their preferred language.
  • Gemini in Drive: Gathering the right details from various files, decks, and documents is a common challenge for sales teams. Salespeople often spend too much time searching for specific information instead of preparing for an important pitch. With Gemini in Drive, users can ask for a summary of the most relevant information about their product or customer. Within seconds, Gemini gathers this information and displays it in the side panel, allowing them to nail the preparation for their customer meeting.

More ways to work with Gemini in one’s preferred language.

  • The ability to work in one’s preferred language extends beyond summarizing and creating content. When using the Gemini app (gemini.google.com) to research a topic or brainstorm ideas, users can choose to work in any of 40 languages. Gemini can also help close communication gaps across global teams. During a Google Meet video call, turn on translated captions in one of the 69 supported languages to follow along, no matter the spoken language. Plus, Gemini can also automatically translate messages in Google Chat.
