NVIDIA to Announce New RTX Updates at GDC 2024

The annual Game Developers Conference commences on Monday and NVIDIA has a preview of RTX-related announcements. Among them, are new exciting integrations of cutting-edge RTX technology.

Black Myth: Wukong and NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Getting DLSS 3.5 Upgrades

A pair of new titles will be getting big image quality and performance upgrades with DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction technology and full ray tracing, to give GeForce gamers the definitive experience. The highly anticipated Black Myth: Wukong will launch on August 20th. NARAKA: BLADEPOINT will add Full Ray Tracing soon to three areas which are accessible through both PVP and PVE modes, with further areas receiving upgrades over time.

Star Wars Outlaws To Launch with NVIDIA DLSS 3, Ray Tracing and Reflex

NVIDIA has partnered with Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games to deliver the definitive PC experience for Star Wars Outlaws players, leveraging the game-changing technologies of GeForce RTX GPUs to enhance graphics, accelerate performance, and make gameplay even more responsive.

Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars game, set between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, coming later this year, enhanced with NVIDIA DLSS 3, Ray Tracing and Reflex. It will also be available in the cloud on GeForce NOW.

Portal with RTX DLSS 3.5 & RTX IO Update Available Now

Portal with RTX was the first game built using NVIDIA RTX Remix, a transformative modding tool that enables modders to upgrade and remaster classic games. Portal with RTX reimagines Valve’s timeless classic using full ray tracing, also known as path tracing, to accurately model the real-world properties of light.

At the launch, Portal with RTX featured NVIDIA DLSS 3 with Frame Generation and Super Resolution.

Today,  Portal with RTX is upgrading to NVIDIA DLSS 3.5, leveraging its AI-powered Ray Reconstruction technology to improve the fidelity of full ray tracing, and the responsiveness of dynamic lighting effects. Using NVIDIA DLSS 3.5, frame rates on the GeForce RTX 4090 are multiplied by 6.2X. On the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, gamers receive a 6.7X boost, enabling gameplay at over 100 and 70 frames per second.

At 2560×1440, a 4.7X performance multiplier enables owners of the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, 4070 Ti SUPER, 4080, 4080 SUPER and 4090 to max everything out and play at over 80 FPS, and up to 160 FPS on the GeForce RTX 4090.

At 1920×1080, a 3.6X performance multiplier enables owners of virtually all GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards to play at over 70 FPS, with frame rates climbing rapidly as users move up the stack, all the way up to 210 FPS on the GeForce RTX 4090.

NVIDIA RTX IO made its debut alongside the free Portal: Prelude RTX NVIDIA RTX Remix mod, and is now available in Portal with RTX. NVIDIA RTX IO enables fast GPU-based loading and game asset decompression, massively accelerating IO performance compared to hard drives and traditional storage APIs. NVIDIA RTX IO leverages GPU decompression for smaller data packages, enabling faster texture load times and lower CPU utilization. It allows developers to create a new generation of games with massive highly detailed worlds. With NVIDIA RTX IO texture load timeshare is reduced by up to 5X, and reduces the disk drive footprint of Portal with RTX by 37%.

The Portal with RTX NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and RTX IO update is available on Steam now, for free for all Portal owners.

Diablo IV Ray Tracing Update Arrives March 26th

Diablo IV will be getting an image quality upgrade on March 26th with the addition of a pair of ray-traced effects. Armor, water, windows, and other suitably reflective surfaces will now feature accurate, realistic ray-traced reflections and ray-traced transparent reflections. The many shadows of Diablo IV will be enhanced with ray tracing, adding extra detail to all scenes.

Since the game’s launch in June 2023, GeForce RTX gamers have been accelerating performance by 2.5X on average at 4K in Diablo IV, thanks to the inclusion of DLSS 3. With NVIDIA Reflex, system latency was reduced by up to 67%, for the most responsive gameplay possible.
